According to Future Velo, the company will focus on designing and marketing premium electric road, mountain, and gravel bicycles as well as promoting unique travel experiences with former professional, World and Olympic Cycling Champions.

“As electric bicycles grow at a rapid pace around the world, it was inevitable that the UCI and cyclists in general would embrace eBike technology and the potential it brings to the sport of cycling across all disciplines,” continued Cabanban. “We are a group of athletes and experienced bicycle industry specialists with a similar vision and passion. The Future Velo brand is inspired by World and Olympic Champions and their relentless pursuit to be the absolute best. We are very excited to partner with many of these athletes to design and market our electric bicycles, and we look forward to what they will bring to our premium cycling travel adventures.”

The Future Velo team is led by Cabanban, whose dream of becoming an Olympic Athlete ended at the US Olympic Training center shortly before the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. At the USOTC (and in the years since then), he befriended many athletes who would go on to win medals in the Olympics and World Championships. After he ended his racing career, he began a career in the bicycle industry.

As a sales rep he represented leading cycling brands like Easton, Look, Colnago, Sidi and others to a variety of customers in North America. Over 20 years ago, Cabanban became interested in electric bicycles and has been involved in the development, marketing and/or sales of electric bicycles and drive systems for several pioneering global brands, including The Accell Group, Sanyo, Panasonic, Currie Technologies and Robert Bosch.

Future Velo’s Director of Supply Chain and other Co-founder, Benjamin Chen, met Cabanban when the two of them were colleagues at Robert Bosch Ebike Systems. During his career, Chen has worked with several large bicycle manufacturing companies in China and North America. He is one of the leading electric bicycle consultants and specializes in drive systems and motor controllers. At Future Velo, Chen is responsible for quality and supply chain for company operations in Europe and Asia.

“Future Velo understands how the addition of an electric drive system can positively transform the ride experience for any athlete: when they’re young, as they age, overcome injury or physical challenges, or even as they train for the Tour De France or World Championships,” Cabanban said. “It is the company’s objective to take our years of racing history (as well as our experience with leading bicycle, eBike and drive systems manufacturers), to build the absolute best electric bicycles at a competitive price.”

Future Velo is headquartered in Carmel, Indiana, with subsidiaries in China and the European Union. Future Velo also has team members working in satellite offices in France, the Czech Republic, and Shanghai and Tianjin, China.

Future Velo will offer its premium electric bicycles Direct-to-Consumers (DTC) through its website and through a network of industry affiliates who share the same passion for electric bicycles.

“We are forward-thinking and build the eBikes that we want to ride, while also providing our clients with the best cycling experiences possible,” Cabanban said. “We look forward to introducing the world to our team of professional, World and Olympic Champions later this month prior to the World Mountain Bike Championships”.
